With a population of 225,000, the London borough of Haringey is a green oasis in the middle of the capital. Approximately 25% of Haringeys surface is classified as park space/woods. This included five ancient woods such as Highgate Wood and North Wood, which are classified as one of eight Green heritage sites in London. Haringey is also well known for having a diverse multicultural community whereby half of primary school pupils speak English as a second language.
